Jeff Birnbach is Managing Director and a partner at Sylint. His experience includes over 30 years in senior leadership roles, with extensive experience in information security and investigations. Recent cases under his direction include cyber extortion, HIPAA breaches, government network compromises, Medicare fraud, credential trafficking, celebrity stalking and child exploitation. Prior affiliations included management roles at Sony, PhysiTel, LoCast and Robrady Capital. With a diverse background in a variety of commercial sectors, he has also been an officer of several emerging companies and non-profit organizations. Mr. Birnbach is a frequent speaker on cyber security and investigations to law enforcement and professional audiences throughout the U.S.

Magdalena M. Czerniawski, CPA, MBA, is a Tax Director at Marks Paneth LLP and a member of the firm’s Nonprofit, Government & Healthcare Group. With nearly 15 years of nonprofit industry experience, she provides tax services to a wide array of nonprofits, including charitable organizations, social welfare organizations, professional associations and private foundations. Prior to joining Marks Paneth, Magdalena was a Senior Tax Manager with a national accounting firm, where she focused on tax consulting and compliance for many of their highest profile clients. She has published various articles on industry-specific tax matters and has served as a speaker for internal and external seminars.

Ben Jonas is a committed insurance professional with eight years of critical experience helping 501(c)(3) nonprofits protect themselves and their mission. That work today takes place at 501(c) Services, providing nonprofits nationwide with alternative unemployment benefit financing methods. Ben draws his experience from his time as both an insurance underwriter and independent broker. Ben is a graduate of San Jose Jose State University with a B.A. in English. He has also completed the Strategic Decision & Risk Management certificate from Stanford University and The Strategic Decision Group. In addition to family and friends, Ben enjoys maximizing his time outdoors.

Robert (Rob) Lyons, CPA, MST, is a Tax Director, Exempt Organizations in the Nonprofit, Government & Healthcare Group at Marks Paneth LLP. Rob brings to this role the skills he has developed during more than 30 years of providing tax and consulting services to his clients in the nonprofit, higher education, and public sector industries. His experience includes handling substantial exempt organization tax issues. Rob has advised clients on the use of for-profit subsidiaries as well as disregarded entities. He was an adjunct professor in the Kogod School of Business Graduate Department at American University in Washington, DC. He has also authored six books and forty articles to date concerning exempt organization issues.

Michael McNee, CPA, is the Partner-in-Charge of Attest Services and Co-Partner-in-Charge the Nonprofit, Government & Healthcare Group at Marks Paneth LLP.
